One of my friends who builds websites was talking to an electrician who said he was thinking about building his own mobile website with one of those freemium DIY website builder platforms — “Well would you hire a website designer to run the electrical wiring and wire the outlets and light switches and breaker box in your house?”
The electrician looked at my buddy like he was nuts. When he said no, my friend responded, “Well, that’s the same as hiring an electrician to build your website, which is what you’re talking about doing.”
Moral of the story is that YES, you can make a really great looking and highly functional mobile website yourself using one of those freemium DIY website builder platforms. BUT probably not you personally.
A skilled individual can, and of course, that most likely doesn’t mean the neighbor kid or your college-aged nephew. — I sure as heck wouldn’t put my web marketing or my business success in the hands of some neighbor kid.
Building a mobile web presence probably shouldn’t be a do-it-yourself project unless you have the creative and technical chops to make it look and work great. Your mobile web marketing is too important not to let an expert handle it.
